Well here in Ireland, we have just gone through local and European elections. For those of you who do not understand the Irish system, local government elections are for the cities and counties. The European elections are for, our representatives in Brussels, where the European parliament is. OK, so why am I writing on this, well as part of my journey into Internet marketing and life on the information highway, it has occurred we need politician’s that can punch above their weight.
We also need politicians that are switched on, to the 21st century. You can not do things the same as you did 2 years ago, let alone last century. Look at the progress in mobile phone and the Internet, now look at government. They are doing things the way they did them, before the telephone was invented!. So why is it we wonder why the system does not work? Also world wide the system is the same and that is its just a game to the politicians, but not us, who it effects daily.
Why a game, because they play politics, you have a lot of factors from self interest to lobbies etc. Here you get in to see a politician, within 2 days, 3 hours if you have the right connections. How do they get anything done?. How can they do the business of running the country?, making the right decisions?, when they can be constantly interrupted. Add to that the fact that any change, whatsoever, takes months if not years. Could you see any business surviving in the current climate, under that. Also there is the fact of payment, most people think that politicians are overpaid. I disagree, they are underpaid, but they are far too many of them.
Look, its simple, what calibre of person are we attracting? would you let them run your business, your home or clearing your yard. They are not all bad, but in times of crisis you want the best. The Richard Bransons and Donald Trumps of the world. Are they going to work for the money that’s been paid, of course not. I know these particular guys won’t do the job, but its people of that calibre we want, isn’t it?
People who when they see BS, like the current crap we get from the banks, they will go after it. Get rid of the Muppet’s, kick the system into gear and most importantly, make the hard decisions that need to be made. One example of this is simply, the banks have no money. The banks have to write down their debts and forget about world opinion, this cracks me up,as the whole world is in the same position.So what the point of worrying about opinion, or is it just spin to keep us guessing?
Why not have a world council set up, run by top class business people to come up with global solutions for a global economy. Yes they would have to be checks and balances put in place. But a lot of countries can get together to invade another country, why not take the same resources and put it in to this, instead of killing people. I believe that a lot of the super rich, who we want, would put in their time for free.(If Richard Branson or Donald Trump are reading this, let me know if you are interested! Hey whats life without a giggle)
The bottom line, the political system we operate under across the world, is isolated and antiquated and that’s been nice about it. In the information age, the hardest place to get information from is the government, unless of course you want to know what you owe them in tax. So how will you change it?
