Firstly what is a niche; look over in the corner of the room and where the two walls join, that’s a niche. In the marketing the term has a similar meaning, a very small piece. So with all of the talk about the global market being huge and then you are told, hey take a small piece. Simple how do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time. Also you can’t be all things to everyone.
Now lets think about the numbers. 1% of 1 is, not worth calculating, 1% of 6 billion, done it yet. That’s what been in a niche, online means: A small piece of a huge market. Imagine you love fly fishing or your RV. You can subscribe to a news letter that gives you all the latest updates or tips on where to go and what to see. Would you subscribe for $10 a month, well most of us would. So if you are the person gathering the information and sending it to us, you make the $10. You might say that’s not a lot, but what if you had a 100 or 1000 subscribers, every month. Has that changed your mind?
Well this is the core of internet marketing, finding something that people want to pay for. It also helps greatly if you love it. This is why I chose Internet Marketing as my niche. I have always loved marketing, so doing it online, to a global market is really cool. How to find your niche size is a totally different issue, this does take technical skills. These are too many to go into here, but a quick tip. Go to your magazine store, if there is a magazine for it. There is a niche. Also make a list of about 10 niche’s and goggle them. Check out the competition, see where the holes are.
So if you are looking to go online and make some extra income, my advice, find a niche. In whatever you decide, the best if Irish luck to you. But remember the person who never moves, isn’t lucky, they are dead.
If you are starting out in the world of online marketing, your first and vital step is to find your niche. You may ask what is a niche, its a small section. In building terms it is where two walls meet. So if you think of the room as the whole market , then the corner is your niche. Imagine you are zooming in to the corner, closer, closer. That’s the easiest way, I think, to visualise a niche.
So now how do you find your on line niche. Here are some simple steps to take.
- 1. Go to a magazine store and see what magazines are for sale. If they are a number of magazines on the same topic, this is better. That means there is a demand for this topic.
- 2. God, Money, weight loss. 3 of the major markets on line at the moment.
